7. Gossip Girl
No one really misses high school drama, but it’s suddenly more interesting when it takes place on the Upper East Side. That’s exactly what you get when you watch Gossip Girl. Featuring Blake Lively as Serena Van Der Woodsen and Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl is just what you would expect. Focused on a private high school in New York City, the richest kids are all packed together in one school. Scandal is just around the corner.
Especially when that scandal is all on a website to be seen by everyone. No secrets are safe in the Upper East Side since Gossip Girl (voiced by Kirsten Bell) has eyes everywhere. Every secret romance, every backstab, and every heartbreak is all for the taking at Constance Saint Jude.
Among the city’s elite is the token “bad boy”, Chuck Bass, the “golden boy”, Nate Archibald, and the Brooklynite who doesn’t quite fit in, Dan Humphrey. As much as the show focuses on the girls’ drama and constant fighting to see who stays on top of the social scene, it also is as much about fitting in. No matter if you’re watching this in the day or night, you’ll feel for Dan as he and his sister Jenny try to make their way through the rules of the Upper East Side without trying to lose who they are.
Get ready for catfights, Louis Vitton, sex, drugs, and everything else that happens behind the shiny exterior of the socialites. But Gossip Girl is never far away, ready to ruin someone’s day, their reputation, or their friendships.
With six seasons and 121 episodes, sometimes this show might be a train wreck. A train wreck in really good shoes that you can’t stop watching and clicking “next episode”.
