8. Vera Farmiga

Like Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga also took the helm starring in the 2009 horror film The Conjuring. Her portrayal of Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigator, is enough to make me believe in all things that go bump in the night.

Farmiga’s background extends far beyond The Conjuring though. Until recently, she played Norma Bates in Bates Motel, the spooky contemporary prequel to the classic horror film Psycho. If you’ve ever seen the original Hitchcock movie, then you know that Norma Bates had quite the relationship with her son, Norman. Farmiga had to dive deep to really understand the nuances of such a dark character.

Aside from her work in horror though, Farmiga is seriously a dramatic force to be reckoned with. My two favorite films of hers are Up in the Air and The Departed. Her characters in these films are far different than those she played in any of her horror films, and they really showcase her versatility.

In summary, I’d hazard to guess that this body of work would pay off if ever Stranger Things were to tap into her as a villain. Even if she were cast as a good guy, I’d still love to see her in ST3 as she’d surely bring a lot of complexity to any character she could play.

Will she appear in the next season of Stranger Things? Eh, it’s really a total crapshoot. That being said, I think she’s an experienced actor who could bring a lot to an upcoming installment.
