9. Bill Skarsgård

It was the 2017 horror remake of which the internet was verrry skeptical.

Somehow, the movie was a surprising hit. Sure, the cast of kids was excellent, but the real star of the show was Bill Skarsgård, who played the titular clown first portrayed by Tim Curry. Skarsgård totally reinvented the role, and his version was definitely different but still very scary.

It would seem that Skarsgård is in hot demand these days. He’s the former star of another Netflix Original show, Hemlock Grove, and he was recently cast in the new Hulu show Castle Rock. Unfortunately, his presence in this new Hulu show probably means that his time for other televised series is limited. I wouldn’t expect to see him in ST3, but hey, a girl can dream.

Hulu’s Castle Rock takes place in the Stephen King multiverse, which is the same universe in which Stranger Things is rumored to exist. Obviously, this would mark Skarsgård’s second major venture into the mind of Mr. King. Clearly, he understands the hallmarks of King’s nuanced subgenre. Wouldn’t that make him a great fit for the Stranger Things verse?

Despite my not thinking that he’ll show up in ST3, I still think he’d make a great addition. He’s got the spooky look, he’s got the acting chops, and he’s got the experience. I think it would be refreshing to see him play a non-monster character. It would definitely thwart our expectations. Come on, guys, let’s all petition Bill to see if he’ll make the hop back to Netflix!
