4. Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart is *probably* my most outlandish pick on this list. I mean, the guy is a modern icon. He’s basically the face of both modern sci-fi and fantasy.

Although Stewart has an overall impressive and varied body of work, he has two main credits that I believe make him a qualified candidate for the next big fantasy installment, Stranger Things. Firstly, there’s his work on Star Trek: The Next Generation. If you’ve never heard of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, then you’re probably living under a rock. Stewart was a great addition to the new wave of Starfleet officers. His experience as the fearless leader would make him a great casting choice for a group of kids who also have a knack for exploring the unknown.

His other notable credit is his role as Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise. He splits this role with another actor mentioned on this list (James McAvoy), with Stewart playing the older version of the character and his counterpart playing the younger. Again, Stewart here plays the strong, curious leader. In these movies, his character also has plenty of experience with gifted children. Sound familiar?

As much as I’d like to see him pop up in ST3 though, he’s probably far too expensive and elite of a casting choice. Still, I’m holding out hope. Seeing Patrick Stewart show up as some kind of sage leader for the kids (a Dr. Brenner foil, perhaps?) would really make the nerd in me go wild. Fingers crossed!
