1. Eleven defeats the Demogorgon

Episode: “Chapter Eight: The Upside Down”

Ultimately, figuring out the best moment for Eleven in Stranger Things season 1 isn’t a terribly difficult task. Yes, she owns the screen the majority of the time that she’s on the show. What’s more, those moments are all incredibly critical to how everything plays out. With that said, everything that El experiences through the first 7.5 episodes of the first season is all leading to one moment and one climax. That moment is the best of Eleven in the entire first season.

One of the beautiful things about the final battle with the Demogorgon is the fact that the boys are willing to try and take it on, no matter how ill-fated that battle is because Eleven doesn’t have the strength — or so they think — to take him on. As stated many times, friendship is one of the central themes of this show, and this is yet another pristine example of it. They don’t have the means but are willing to try and protect El nonetheless.

However, that’s when Eleven bursts through the boys and looks like a total bada*s ready to go to war. She steps in front of the Demogorgon and, though sporting some childlike fear, shows immense bravery as she presses the monster against the wall. Then she breaks everyone’s hearts as she says goodbye to Mike and then takes down the terrorizing force once and for all, sacrificing herself to do so. What a beautiful moment.

Thankfully, though, her sacrifice won’t take her away from us forever. Eleven is back for season 2, which was teased by Hopper leaving out Eggos at the end of season 1. We look forward to many more unforgettable moments from her.
