Netflix has already renewed Stranger Things for season 3 according to Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of the series.

Stranger Things season 3 is already confirmed and will be happening at Netflix, according to a Vulture interview with the creators of the series, the Duffer brothers.

I think most people assumed Stranger Things would be back for more seasons following season 2, and so it’s good to know Netflix is committed to seeing this series through until the end.

Honestly, it would be foolish for Netflix to move on from this series even if the second season is not up to the standard set by the first season. Stranger Things is easily one of the most popular shows in the world right now, and I don’t see that slowing down any time soon.

The Vulture interview did claim Matt and Ross reject the idea of seasons. They consider these later seasons to be more like sequels to the original story, according to Vulture. In that case, things could change a lot in this series between now and the third season.

Netflix would probably allow this series to continue as long as the Duffer brothers wanted it to continue. For that, the interview also provided a little insight into how long the series may last, as well.

According to the interview, Ross Duffer said they are planning to end the series after the fourth season. Here is his quote on the topic, via Vulture:

"“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” says Ross."

So, there you have it! After the second season of Stranger Things, which premieres on Friday, Oct. 27, there will probably be two more seasons of the series, unless something major changes.
