When is the Sense8 series finale release date on Netflix? We know the two-hour Sense8 special is coming in 2018, but when in 2018?
Sense8 is coming back for a two-hour series finale extended episode or movie on Netflix! The news was just announced, so we are trying to sort through all the details and figure out when this finale episode will be released on Netflix.
At the time of publishing, we’ve only heard one tidbit about when the Sense8 finale will be released on Netflix, and that’s from Lana Wachowski’s letter to fans announcing the news. Wachowski claims the episode/movie will be on the way to Netflix next year.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much more information about the release of the two-hour special than that. We can, however, use our knowledge of how Netflix has done business in the past to speculate about when Netflix plans to release the series.

Sense8 is an incredibly difficult series to make because it brought so many characters together across the world. And, that’s also why it was so expensive. Based on the ending of the second season, there are reasons to believe we won’t be traveling as much in the final episode, but that remains uncertain.
From the release date of the first season, it took almost two years to make the second season and release it on the streaming service. I doubt it will be that long before we see the end of Sense8, but it’s probably not going to be in the early part of 2018 either. Although it’s only going to be two hours, it should take about 12 months to get this ready and made before the release date, and it could be even longer than that.
With that said, there’s probably a good chance we could see the final episode of Sense8 in the summer of 2018. With it’s importance to the series, wouldn’t August 8, 2018, be a great day to release the final episode of the series?
If not then, Netflix might hold off until Christmas 2018 to release the episode, like they did with the Christmas special in 2016.
Obviously, Netflix can release the finale whenever they want. The first two seasons premiered on Netflix in May and June, respectively, so that time of the year is also in play. I think it’s more likely to see the special later in the summer next year or around the holidays.
As always, we will let you know as soon as we hear anything about the Sense8 series finale release date. I’m sure that information will be announced within a few months, but we should get little details about filming and such leaking out because the series is such a popular topic these days.
