13 Reasons Why, which was produced by Selena Gomez, is now available to stream on Netflix. The full first season is available right now!

13 Reasons Why is a Netflix original series and is based on Jay Asher’s Thirteen Reasons Why novel.The book has been adapted into a TV series. Tom McCarthy, best known as the writer and director of the Oscar-winning movie Spotlight, directed some of the episodes of the first season of the series and developed the show along with Brian Yorkey, who is listed as the show’s creator.

The series has a huge cast that includes Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Kate Walsh, Derek Luke, Justin Prentice, Brandon Flynn, Brian D’Arcy James, Alisha Boe, Tommy Dorfman, Christian Navarro, and Miles Heizer.

13 Reasons Why tells the story of Clay (Dylan Minnette), a high school student, who starts receiving mysterious tapes after Hannah’s (Katherine Langford) death by suicide. Clay and Hannah were friends, and the tapes have something to do with the thirteen reasons behind her death.

Because the series deals with bullying, abuse, and teen suicide, it will be interesting to see how this series is received. Obviously, these issues will hit close to home for many viewers. I’m hopeful the series will handle those sensitive topics in the right way.
