Stranger Things: Who plays Eleven?

If you watched Stranger Things on Netflix you were likely blown away by the performance of the character Eleven, here’s what you need to know about her.

The cast for Stranger Things was headlined by Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine and David Harbour but the best performance in season 1 of the Netflix series came from Millie Brown who played Eleven.

She looks like a young Elizabeth Perkins despite a shaved head to play the part of Eleven and absolutely steals the show in every way possible.

The mysterious character was the central figure the show revolved around, which is a pretty huge responsibility for the actress who was born in 2004. Let’s learn a little more about Brown and her acting background before her big break in Stranger Things.

Brown was born in Spain in 2004 to British parents and began taking part in acting workshops in 2001 after moving to Orlando, Florida. Two years later, she was cast as Young Alice in Once Upon A Time In Wonderland. Those two episodes led to her being cast in BBC America series Intruders where she played Madison O’Donnell for eight episodes.

Her performance then led to an appearance in NCIS, Modern Family and Grey’s Anatomy before getting the role of Eleven in Stranger Things. This breakthrough performance will surely lead to more roles and despite her young age, I hope she gets some well-deserved recognition for some sort of award.

She reminded me of Natalie Portman in The Professional when she was only 13 years old. Could we be looking at the next Natalie Portman? Time will tell and we don’t want to put too much pressure or expectations on the young actress, but after watching her in Stranger Things, Millie Brown has a bright future ahead of her.
