Gasland

Release Year: 2010

Directed by Josh Fox

While Gasland lacks the popping, beautiful visuals that made Life so cool, the message of the documentary is as powerful, if not more powerful.

Gasland presents evidence that natural gas drilling, commonly known as “Fracking,” is terrible for the environment in several key ways. The documentary visits several rural communities in the United States that have been directly affected in negative ways by Fracking. For the film, Fox spoke with members of those communities about chronic health problems and poisoned water sources associated with Fracking.

Gasland was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary at the 2011 Academy Awards, and the film won a Primetime Emmy for Best Nonfiction Programming.
