Wet Hot American Summer Season 2 Release Date

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day at Camp was one of the biggest hits of the summer on Netflix, so when can fans expect to see more from the gang at Camp Firewood?

Show creators Michael Showalter and David Wain gave fans of the cult classic film Wet Hot American Summer a treat this summer with a prequel, consisting of eight half-hour episodes released on Netflix this summer.

The whole gang was back with Marguerite Moreau, Paul Rudd, Michael Ian Black, Zak Orth, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler and Molly Shannon joining Showalter and Wain at the first day of camp in 1981.

It’s not a prerequisite that you watch the movie before the show, but it does help give you a sense of the type of outrageous and raunchy comedy you’ll see in the series.

If you were like me, you binge-watched the entire season in one sitting and then were left wanting more so you watched it again, and again and then one more time. But now you’re wondering when there will be more episodes of Wet Hot American Summer.

Currently, there aren’t plans for a second season, but according to Showalter, he’s open to doing a second season if the scheduling works out for the huge ensemble cast to work together again.

“If everyone wants to do it, we’ll do it,” Showalter said, via Deadline. “The time commit for this cast is quite accommodating. The feeling is we are interested in creating an environment that is easy for people being able to say yes.”

Here’s to hoping they say yes. And why wouldn’t they? This barely even is work for these actors. It’s more like hanging around with your closest friends for a few days and having some fun on set.

The first eight episodes all took place in a 24-hour period, so it’s not like there isn’t more to be told here with these hilarious characters. Netflix would certainly welcome it back for another season and it would make for another great summer release, so if they go ahead, we think the second season would come out in the summer of 2016, most likely in late July or early August.
