Aziz Ansari’s Master of None Coming to Netflix in November

At the Summer TCA (Television Critics Association) Press Tour, Aziz Ansari and Netflix announced Ansari’s new sitcom heading to has a name and a release date!

Ansari’s new Netflix original series Master of None will premiere exclusively on Netflix on November 6.

Masters of None was created by Ansari and former Parks and Rec writer Alan Yang. Michael Schur, the executive producer of Parks, is also an exec. producer of Master of None, along with Ansari, Yang, Dave Becky, and David Miner.

Ansari stars in Master of None, along with H. Jon Benjamin, Eric Wareheim, Lena Waithe, and Kelvin Yu.

Here is the official synopsis from the Netflix press release announcing the show’s release:

Based on the comedic viewpoints of Aziz Ansari, the show follows the personal and professional lives of Dev (Aziz Ansari), a 30-year-old actor in New York who has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life. Ambitious, funny, cinematic, and both sweeping in scope and intensely personal, Dev’s story takes him through subjects as diverse as the plight of the elderly, the immigrant experience, and how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner.

It’s been a huge year already for Ansari with Parks and Recreation coming to an end, selling out Madison Square Garden for his most recent stand-up special, Aziz Ansari Live at Madison Square Garden, and the release of Ansari’s first book, Modern Romance.

If Master of None does well for Netflix, it’s almost a guarantee there will be a second season, if Ansari is willing. With so many big names and hilarious people involved, Netflix should want to lock those people in for multiple seasons. Obviously, that’s just speculation, but it seems like a no-brainer!

Oh, and Ansari’s parents are also playing themselves in the series! It’s a family affair!
